First Pregnancy Dream!

It's finally happened! What all mothers kept telling me, "you'll dream about the 'big day,'" has finally happened to me! My first pregnancy dream...........

I was in labor and I knew it not because of the pain, but because of my brain! My mind kept saying, "Be calm, this is it," and I was super calm. Everything about the dream was soothing--I know, I know, don't get my hopes up!

Anyway, I was greeted with a raft and instructions to go down the water slide, and at first I remember feeling confused about that, but I did it. The raft was so comfortable and the water so warm and relaxing--it was wonderful! Suddenly, I realized I wasn't the only one going down this huge slide; to the right of me was one of my most annoying, negative-Nelly co-workers, Ryan! I said hello and asked why he was on the slide if he wasn't giving birth and he just complained that he had to go visit his sister, who was in labor. He was obviously irritated by the fact that he had to make the visit. Nonetheless, he and I both spill out into an open pool where we're greeted by friendly faces. My greeter was my FAVORITE math teacher, Mr. Fantaski! My co-worker's greeter was ANOTHER co-worker who is even more obnoxious than he; her name is Jeri. So those two go off and get him "ready," and Mr. Fantaski hands me a towel, says, "Everything will be great," and instructs me to go up an escalator. So, I'm wrapped in this fresh-out-of-the-dryer towel, anxiously awaiting arriving at the top, and when I do, it's a whole bunch of old people! I love me some old ladies and men, so I was super excited to see that's who my next stop was with!! :o)

All of these ladies were fawning all over me to make sure that I wasn't nervous, didn't need anything, knew what I was supposed to do, etc. They point to a room where I'm to give birth and tell me to go in and get comfortable. (And, I realize labor doesn't equal comfort, but HEY! a girl can dream!!) I walk in, and there's soothing music playing, there are flowers and pictures of my loved ones all around, my birthing plan (which I have yet to make...) is sitting in my hospital bag along with other familiar possessions from home. And then I see a note in my late grandma's handwriting that says she'll be watching over me and all will be well. I recognized the handwriting immediately, and as soon as I realized it was she who had written me, I woke up.

Quite honestly, the water scene was so real I half expected to have peed myself, but luckily (for Zach!), I had not! Overall, the dream was exceptionally reassuring and positive, filled with people from my present and past who have helped me and cared about me--even if it was by means of geometry :o) I'm really looking forward to having another dream!!

The shower plans are coming along nicely. Jen and I are shopping this weekend to finalize baskets and smaller prizes, and by then we should have all of our RSVPs so we'll know who to expect. How fun! I'm getting SUPER excited because with the end of school comes my shower and with my shower comes our vacation and after vacation comes Baby J.! It's like I'm a kid on Christmas Eve--I can't stand the anticipation!!!

I have yet to take pictures of the finalized nursery. Call me lazy, call me irresponsible. I call me pregnant :o)

We're Baaaaack!

It has been FOREVER since I've posted anything! Life (and pregnancy) is just flying by! Since my last entry, things at school have cooled down considerably. My principal said he values me too much to jeopardize the progress I've made with the AP course; therefore, it's mine when I do return to school. Yay! Also, we've set up a fantastic sub for me and that is such a load off! I'll know that Baby J. will be in good hands (mine and Zach's!) and my students will also be in good hands. I feel so much more confident and calm about my maternity leave, which will most definitely translate into a much more confident and calm stay at home.

Hmmm...what else? The nursery is done! Just today, our light/fan was installed, and the painting and decorating has been done for a few weeks now. The closet is slowly but surely beginning to hold little Baby J. items, ie: diapers, outfits, etc. I loved to watch the transformation of a plain white room into a place where we'll raise our first baby. Amazing!

The Dr. appointments are now 2/month, and as the due date approaches, we'll go once a week. So far, everything is still wonderful. I've gained just about 22 pounds so far (normal is between 20 - 30), my blood pressure is still great, and I'm not really experiencing any uncomfortable symptoms other than the foot swelling, which is to be expected seeing as how I'm on my feet all day long. I have noticed that I'm running short on patience with my kiddies at school; as a result, I felt the need to talk to them about Survival Tips. I explained the 3 P's to surviving the rest of the year with me: 1. they must be PRESENT. 2. they must be PREPARED for class 3. they must give me PEACE. in a nutshell, they need to come to class prepared and quit their complaining. I explained that if anyone had a reason to whine, it was me seeing as how I'm more than 20 pounds heavier, have grown out of my cute shoes, and have to go to the bathroom every half hour. They were fairly receptive/sympathetic so I'm hoping that I don't hurt a child before June 11th!!

Zach and I have been talking about natural childbirth, and I think that's the avenue I'm going to pursue. Granted, things could very well change once I start dilating and having strong contractions; I'm not ruling anything out at this point. But we're going to take some childbirth preparation classes to help us get ready for the natural labor. We shall see...

Zach and I have also decided to go on vacation with my parents. We'll leave the day after my shower, drive 6 hours, stay the night somewhere, and then continue the next day to Myrtle Beach. I've never been there, so I'm really excited about the whole trip. Zach is looking forward to the golf. A lot of people are telling me I'm nuts to want to travel that far away so close to my due date, but if the pregnancy continues to be as wonderful as it has been, why wouldn't I?! We've scoped out the hospitals (there are 3 in a 40-mile radius), and our neighbor is a trauma nurse. Sounds like I'm in good hands! As for the heat, there is an umbrella and a tent waiting for me to shield my beached-whale self from the sun! We're staying at my great uncle's place, so you really can't beat the price: FREE!! Now we just need to get through the next 3 weeks of school!!

That's about it from these parts. As soon as I download the nursery pics, I'll post them on here. I hope to do a better job of keeping up with these posts, too--sorry!!
